PULLMAN, WA – Pullman High School’s outgoing athletics director has been honored with a statewide award. Wendy Kruger was honored on Monday with the Washington Secondary School Athletic Administrations Association’s AD Service Award.
Kruger received the award at the group’s annual conference in the Tri-Cities. The statewide honor recognizes an AD for their hard work and significant contributions for their school.
Pullman Schools Superintendent Dr. Bob Maxwell informed PHS staff last week the Kruger’s position was being eliminated by the school board due to financial challenges. The AD duties will be reassigned to an assistant high school principal post. Kruger is being laid off July 1st at the start of the district’s next fiscal year. She has been PHS AD for four years.
The move has garnered criticism from many Pullman School District families. The school board’s next meeting is Wednesday night at 6:30 at the high school. Those meetings always include an opportunity for citizens to comment directly to the board.
