LEWISTON – The City of Lewiston has contracted with Crea Construction, Inc. to demolish what remains of the structure, formerly known as the Emperor of India King Thai restaurant, located at 854/858 Main Street in Lewiston, Idaho. The City plans to begin this process Today, April 27.
During the demolition process, the sidewalk in front of the property will be closed and the alley behind the property will be closed. The City asks that all drivers and
pedestrians use caution in the area.
On December 20, 2019, the Lewiston City Council first declared this structure to be a nuisance that endangered the public’s health and safety and posed risks of property
damage to adjoining properties.
On July 26, 2021, the Lewiston City Council declared that this structure continues to be a nuisance. The City provided the property owner several opportunities to remedy the nuisance, but, to date, the structure remains a nuisance that poses a safety risk to the public and adjoining properties.
On April 11, 2022, the City Council approved the demolition agreement with Crea Construction to abate the nuisance. These efforts have stemmed from a structure fire that occurred at the property on December 9, 2019, causing the building to sustain severe damage.
The project is anticipated to be completed roughly two weeks from the start of demolition. The City will issue another press release when the project concludes.
