Corvallis, OR. – Sam Olsson became the fifth different LC State Baseball player to earn Cascade Conference Rize Laboratory Player of the Week honors this season when the conference office announced this week’s winners on Monday. The senior catcher put on a show at the plate in his hometown of Eugene, Ore., against Bushnell University.
Between four games against Bushnell and one against NCAA Division II Central Washington, the senior went 13-for-23 for a .565 batting average. He tallied two doubles and three home runs for a 1.043 slugging percentage and drove in 10 runs. One of his home runs against the Beacons was a grand slam. Olsson had multiple hits in all five games while catching every pitch over the weekend.
This is Olsson’s first weekly honor in his Warrior career. He joins Nick Seamons, Pu’ukani De Sa, Dominic Signorelli and Jakob Maruqez as LC State baseball players to earn CCC Player of the Week accolades.
The Warriors open the Cascade Conference Championship tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, against top-seeded Oregon Tech on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
