NEW PLYMOUTH – Idaho State Police is investigating a three-vehicle collision that occurred on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 11:39 p.m. on Interstate 84 at milepost 7, in Payette County.
A 21-year-old male from Boise was traveling the wrong way westbound in the eastbound lanes, in a 2005 Toyota 4Runner. A 59-year-old male from Mountain Home was driving a 2022 Dodge Ram 2500 eastbound, with three passengers: a 21-year-old female of Craigmont, a 57-year-old male from Mountain Home, and a juvenile. The Toyota hit the Dodge head-on.
A 28-year-old male from Ontario, Canada, was driving a 2023 Volvo semi eastbound when it rear-ended the Dodge after the head-on collision.
The drivers of the Toyota and Dodge were transported via air ambulance, and the passengers of the Dodge were transported via ground ambulance, all to local hospitals. The semi-driver was not transported.
All occupants were wearing seat belts.
The eastbound lanes were blocked for approximately two and a half hours to allow emergency personnel to assist those on scene.
This incident remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
