(Coeur D’Alene, ID) On January 8, 2025, the Coeur d’Alene Police Department received a report for an auto burglary. The victim’s vehicle was in the parking lot of Candlelight Church and the suspect, later identified as Wesley Jay Decker, entered the vehicle and took the victim’s wallet. The wallet was later recovered in Hayden but was missing cash and the victim’s debit card. The incident was captured on surveillance cameras and officers were able to see video footage of Decker and the vehicle he was driving.
During the investigation, officers learned Decker has an extensive criminal history for crimes including rape, burglary, dangerous drugs, identity theft, and failing to register as a sex offender. Decker arrived in the Kootenai County on January 8th, the same day the auto burglary was committed. Officers also learned Decker has pending theft charges in Casper Wyoming and Dubois Wyoming.
Officers located Decker and arrested him. Wesley Jay Decker is a 63-year-old male from Thornton Colorado. He was booked into the Kootenai County Jail for one count of Auto Burglary.
