LCSC Men’s Basketball Kicks off Postseason Play on Tuesday

LEWISTON, ID – Postseason play kicks off for LC State Men’s Basketball on Tuesday when the LC State Warriors host the Corban Warriors (Ore.) in the quarterfinal round of the 2025 Cascade Conference Championship, presented by U.S. Bank. The contest in the P1FCU Activity Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.

 

The third-seeded LC State Warriors swept the regular season against sixth-seeded Corban with an 82-55 victory in Lewiston in January and 72-64 win in Salem on Friday.

 

No. 3 Seed – LC State Warriors (22-6, 17-5)

The LC State Warriors enter the tournament with a record of 22-6 overall and 17-5 in conference play. LC is second in the CCC in scoring defense (71.3), field goal percentage (.497) and field goal percentage defense (.437). The LC Warriors enter the tournament averaging 79.5 points per game.

 

Alton Hamilton has been one of the top players in the conference all season long and is the only player in the CCC averaging a double-double. His 10.1 boards per game leads the Cascade and his 17.3 points per game mark is second. The sophomore is second in blocked shots this season with 28 and is second on the team with 65 assists.

 

Junior John Lustig has been one of the most efficient scorers in the CCC in the last few weeks and currently ranks fifth in the conference in field goal percentage (.621). He is averaging 12.1 points per game and has scored 20 points in three of the last four games. Lustig leads LC State with 69 assists and is tied with 21 steals this season.

 

MaCarhy Morris is one of the biggest scoring threats with 14.7 points per game while senior Taden King leads the LC State Warriors in 3-pointers made this season with 52. Both are shooting more than 33% from beyond the 3-point line.

 

Freshman Dylan Skaife had a breakout second half with a career-high 18 points against Southern Oregon at home, and senior Gorden Boykins has been a steady presence off the bench and is currently tied for the team lead in steals 21 to go with 15 blocks and 35 assists.

 

LC State defeated Corban at home by a score of 82-55 in January. Hamilton led the contest with 20 points and Lustig tallied 15 points and seven rebounds. The LC Warriors shot 61.1% from the field and held Corban to 32.3%. In the meeting in Salem over the weekend, a strong first half boosted LC State over Corban 72-64. Lustig led the game with 20 points and Hamilton added 19 points and nine rebounds.

 

No. 6 Seed – Corban Warriors (15-13, 13-9)

The Corban Warriors enter the tournament averaging 74.3 points per game with a .456 shooting percentage. The sixth-seeded Warriors earned a highlight victory earlier in the season with a 59-56 win at then-No. 2 College of Idaho. Corban dropped both meetings with LC State this season.

 

Spivey Word leads Corban in scoring this season with 13.9 points per game, but it was Luc Krystkowiak that led the team in scoring in both meetings with LC State. He is averaging 12.2 points per game and scored 18 points last weekend after 13 in Lewiston in January. Krystkowiak leads the team in rebounding this season with 6.1 boards per game.

 

RJ Veliz is the team leader in assists with 81 and Word leads in steals with 40 steals.

 

THE DETAILS

The CCC quarterfinal contest is set for Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. in the P1FCU Activity Center. The winner will advance to the semifinal round at a site to be determined.
