Missing Oregon Toddler Dane Paulsen Found Deceased in Siletz River

LINCOLN COUNTY, OR. – The search for 2-year-old Dane Paulsen has ended in tragedy after his body was discovered in the Siletz River on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Dane, who had been missing since March 1, was found deceased approximately three miles downstream from his family’s property.

Authorities and volunteers had conducted an extensive search for Dane since his disappearance was reported around 4:25 p.m. on March 1. Search efforts included land, air, and water operations, with specialized teams and equipment combing the area for any sign of the missing child.

On March 11, Juan Heredia, a diver with Angels Recovery Dive Team, offered his assistance to Dane’s family. After coordinating with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Heredia was escorted onto the river by a local guide. During his search in an area previously combed by official dive teams, he located Dane at approximately 11:13 a.m.

Sheriff’s Office investigators are currently processing the scene in collaboration with the Lincoln County Medical Examiner’s Office. As the investigation remains ongoing, authorities have not released further details.

In a statement, Sheriff Adam Shanks expressed condolences to Dane’s family and gratitude for those who assisted in the search.

“Our thoughts are with the family, who are facing an unbearable sorrow,” Shanks said. “We are deeply grateful for the support and dedication shown by the search teams and our communities throughout this difficult time, though we wish it was under different circumstances.”

The Sheriff’s Office acknowledged the profound impact of Dane’s loss on the community. Authorities are urging the public and media to respect the family’s privacy as they grieve.
