Coeur d’Alene Police Seek Suspect in Reported Child Enticement Incident

COEUR D’ALENE, ID — Coeur d’Alene Police Department is actively searching for a suspect following a reported child enticement incident that occurred late Saturday, April 5th, in the Landings neighborhood.

According to police, an 11-year-old girl was walking her dog near N. Bedford Lane at approximately 11:15 a.m. when she was approached by an unfamiliar male. The suspect asked if he could pet the dog before following the child and making an inappropriate comment. The situation escalated when the suspect allegedly attempted to grab the girl by the arm. The child quickly fled to a nearby home for safety, and the suspect walked away in the opposite direction.

The suspect is described as a male in his late teens to early twenties, of average height and build, wearing all-black clothing, including a hat, sweatshirt, pants, and dark shoes.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen the individual in the area or who has any information about the incident to contact the Coeur d’Alene Police Department at (208) 769-2320.

Authorities are also reminding parents of the importance of discussing personal safety with their children. “The victim’s immediate decision to seek help is a strong reminder of how critical those conversations can be,” the department said in a statement. “Teaching children to recognize uncomfortable or dangerous situations and to act quickly can make all the difference.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
