BOISE, ID – Governor Brad Little has issued a line-item veto of House Bill 482 to maintain the Governor’s emergency fund, a resource previously used in high-profile and urgent situations across the state.
The fund supported the 2022 investigation into the murders of four University of Idaho students, including efforts to apprehend suspect Bryan Kohberger. It has also been used to combat fentanyl through Operation Esto Perpetua and to assist with border security operations.
Governor Little emphasized the need for flexibility during emergencies. “Eliminating the Governor’s emergency fund only hinders our ability to respond quickly in a fast-moving situation,” he stated.
The Governor’s full veto message is available on the official state website.
