CLARKSTON – A Clarkston home received extensive damage in a late-morning fire on Saturday. Fire crews from across the Valley were dispatched to the home in the 1900 block of Golfview Drive just before 11:00 a.m.
According to a social media post on Asotin County Fire District #1’s Facebook page, when the first crews arrived they found smoke coming out of the whole house. There were three people at home when the fire started who were able to evacuate without injuries.
Asotin County Fire Chief Noel Hardin said general access was an issue with this fire because of a long narrow driveway and they could only get one engine close to the home.
Firefighters from Asotin County Fire District#1, City of Clarkston Fire, City of Lewiston Fire, and City of Asotin Fire all responded through auto aid and mutual aid requests from the Fire District.
The fire started in a bedroom in the daylight basement. According to Chief Hardin, the basement received extensive smoke, heat, and water damage. The main floor of the home received primarily smoke damage.
Firefighters had the fire under control within about 20 minutes and remained on the scene for about 2 hours checking for hot spots.
There were no reported injuries in this fire and the cause remains under investigation.
