Asotin County Library Hosts IRS Community Assistance Visit

September 7, 2024

Clarkston, WA – The Asotin County Library today announced it will host a Community
Assistance Visit (CAV) in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on September 24
and 25 from 10am to 5pm and September 26 from 10am to 4:30pm at Asotin County Library,
417 Sycamore St., Clarkston.
During this CAV, the IRS sets up a temporary Taxpayer Assistance Center to give taxpayers
from our community and surrounding area an opportunity to meet face-to-face with IRS
employees.
“This collaboration demonstrates our commitment to building a strong community,” said Erin
Kolb, adult services librarian. During the CAV, the IRS will share information, provide guidance
and educate on tax matters. They will serve taxpayers on a walk-in basis and by
appointment. To make an appointment, call 613-250-5328 and leave a message. An IRS
employee will return the call to schedule the visit.
To receive assistance, taxpayers must bring:
• Current state- or government-issued photo identification
• Relevant IRS letters or notices they’ve received, and
• Requested documents.

To request identity verification services, taxpayers must bring two forms of
identification, with one of them being a current government-issued photo
identification. Taxpayers should also bring a copy or digital image of the tax
return filed for the year in question if one was filed.

Asotin County Library and the IRS welcomes tax professionals, lawyers and preparers to bring
their clients to resolve account-related concerns.
During the CAV, the IRS will offer these services:
• Account inquiries (help with letters, notices and levies on wages or bank account)
• Adjustments (changes to tax account information on payments)
• Basic tax law assistance (answers related to individual federal tax returns)
• Payment arrangements. Because this is a temporary location, the IRS cannot accept
payments of any kind. Taxpayers are encouraged to make payments online.
• Authentication of taxpayer identities as part of the Taxpayer Protection Program (TPP)
• Transcripts and tax forms (order only), and
• Information on IRS.gov resources and tools
