Christine Laliberte Charged With 12 Counts of Animal Cruelty and 12 More Grate Danes Seized Wednesday

LEWISTON – On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, a search warrant was conducted at 1963 Tammany Creek Road Lewiston Idaho, in the County of Nez Perce.

This was done because on July 27, 2022, the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Idaho Animal Rescue Network (IARN), made contact with Christine Laliberte, who at that time had decided to relinquish her rights to the 10 dogs in the garage, 2 dogs in a kennel beside the barn and 1 dog inside the residence. During this time all dogs were seized, but Laliberte would not give the dog inside of the residence to IARN.

Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office was advised there was more than just one dog inside the residence.

When the search warrant was conducted, they made contact with Laliberte, who was inside this residence. She was asked to step out of the residence and Deputies attempted to make entry to evaluate the inside of the residence.

When the door was opened, the ammonia smell was so strong the Deputies had to back out of the residence and regroup, but they had seen more than just one dog inside the residence.

The Lewiston Fire Department was contacted and assisted with the removal of the Great Danes using their air tanks. Some of the dogs had injuries so they were taken to Riverview Animal Clinic or Southway Vet. Clinic. Laliberte was charged with 12 counts of Animal Cruelty.

The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Idaho Animal Rescue Network and all of their volunteers that came out and assisted us with getting these wonderful but scared, dogs out of the residence.

The Sheriff’s Department would also like to thank the Lewiston Fire Department for their assistance in the case and last but not least the Lewiston Police Department and their Animal Control Officer, the Riverview Animal Clinic, and Southway Vet. Clinic, Fur Family Cinemas, and the Lewis Clark Animal Shelter for taking good care of all these Great Danes.
