Clarkston, WA – In October 2023, Clarkston High School DECA kicked off a critical campaign aimed at promoting safe driving practices and raising awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving. “We hope this campaign leads people to adopt the recurring choice to drive sober,” says campaign coordinators Ella Ogden, Emma McManigle, and Katie Eggleston.
DECA, a leading community-driven organization committed to promoting responsible behavior among youth, announces the launch of the ‘Don’t Hesitate to Designate’ Drinking and Driving campaign. This campaign serves as a tribute and to light the memory of beloved Clarkston High School students, Maggie Ogden and Abriauna Hoffman, who tragically lost their lives to a drunk driver last October. In their honor, candles created and generously donated by the Tin Can Co. are being sold, with all proceeds contributing to the campaign’s mission. Ella, Katie, and Emma will craft a meaningful tribute to these young lives while continuing to spread awareness.
During their candle sales, the campaign coordinators reached out to the community in attendance, encouraging them to pledge against drinking and driving, further solidifying their dedication to the cause.
The ‘Don’t Hesitate to Designate’ campaign employs a comprehensive marketing strategy, with coordinators Ella, Emma, and Katie poised to compete at both the area and state levels, with their eyes set on reaching the national competition and convention. While their ultimate goal is to secure a spot at the national level, their overarching objective is to drive sufficient awareness to combat a pressing issue. Join us in saying, “Please Don’t Hesitate to Designate!”
