CLARKSTON – The City of Clarkston Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire Friday morning around 12:25 a.m. in the 1300 block of McCarroll Street.
Crews were advised that all occupants were out of the house and there were flames visible.
On arrival, it was determined the fire was in the basement and had vented through a basement window. The fire was mostly out, but conditions in the basement were still very hot and smokey.
A few hot spots were put out and smoke was cleared from the basement. The fire had extended out the basement window, encroaching on the attic and roof, but had not reached the interior of the attic.
Fire crews cleared the scene shortly before 3:00 a.m. after the overhaul (checking for any extension in the structure) was completed.
Two dogs were rescued by firefighters.
This fire is still under investigation.
