Clarkston Man in Standoff with AR Style Pistol Requests Deputy Peters, Surrenders

Asotin County Sheriff’s Office

On February 8th, 2023, Asotin County Deputies were dispatched to a reported domestic dispute in the 1600 block of 9th Ave, Clarkston, Washington.  Deputies, with the assistance of Clarkston Police, contacted the female involved in the domestic outside the residence.  Deputies were then advised the male subject was in the residence and armed with an AR style pistol.  Efforts were made to communicate with the male subject identified as Daniel Christianson, 41 year old male from Clarkston, Washington.

Christianson would call 911 and talk with Whitcom Dispatchers.  Dispatchers then advised that Christianson was making threats to “shoot it out with the cops” or “suicide by cop.”  Christianson continued to make statements that he was going to come out of the house and start shooting.  In talking with Christianson, it was found that he wished to speak with Asotin County Deputy Peters.

Deputy Peters, who was off duty, was contacted and responded to the scene.  Deputy Peters was able to establish contact with Christianson and de-escalate the situation and was able to take Christianson into custody without incident.  No shots were fired and no injuries reported.

Christianson was charged with 4 counts of Intimidating a Public Servant a Class B felony. Christianson is currently being housed in the Asotin County Jail.
