UPDATE – Clearwater County Marine Deputies searched using personal watercraft and located Michael Moore deceased in the Clearwater River upstream from Pink House Hole recreation area on the north side of the river. Next of kin has been notified.
ORIGINAL STORY:
On Tuesday, September 13 at 5:25 p.m. the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man in the Clearwater River yelling for help. Deputies responded to the area along with the Orofino Police Department and the Nez Perce Tribal Police but did not locate anyone. The person was last seen in the river across from Hidden Village towards Pink House.
The Sheriff’s Office Marine Division launched a boat on the river and searched until dark but did not locate anyone. The search resumed on the morning of September 14th.
The Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing person. Missing is Michael Moore, 62 years old, from Orofino. Moore is 5’10” 190 lbs. with gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a gray t-shirt. The search will continue today with boats and the Back Country Medics helicopter.
