COLFAX, WA- Sunday afternoon deputies and EMS personnel responded to the report of a collision involving two motorcycles near the entrance to Steptoe Butte State Park on Hume Road.
Upon arrival, deputies located the involved drivers and their motorcycles off the roadway in a ditch on the side of the road. One of the injured motorcyclists appeared to have a broken arm and minor abrasions. The other motorcyclist had suspected head, back, and neck injuries, along with possible broken ribs and minor abrasions.
Based on initial findings, the two motorcycles were traveling in-tandem when the driver of the outside motorcycle turned into the driver of the inside motorcycle causing the collision. As a result, the drivers and their motorcycles ended up veering off the roadway into the ditch. Both drivers were wearing helmets at the time of the collision.
48yoa Ryan Martin of Moses Lake was transported via ambulance to Whitman Community Hospital in Colfax for treatment. 56yoa Daniel Curtis of Ritzville was flown via Life-Flight to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane with serious injuries.
