Asotin County Fire District #1 responded to a reported fire in a canyon just west of Silcott Road.
Fire crews started attacking the hard-to-reach fire with ground crews. A call for Washington State Mobilization was made to assemble air support and more ground crews.
Crews from Asotin County Fire District, City of Asotin, Washington DNR, Forest Service, and Garfield County all attacked the fire.
The fire was spotted around 3 p.m. and crews had the fire partially contained by about 7 p.m. Firefighters will spend Thursday checking the fire line and any hot spots.
One firefighter was assessed for heat exposure. There were no other reported injuries.
