Cub Scout Pack 119 Webelos led the Pledge of Allegiance at the City Council’s Regular Meeting Monday

City of Lewiston

LEWISTON – Webelos is the fifth rank in Cub Scouts and stand for “We’ll Be Loyal Scouts.” This pack has five Webelo Scouts: Brennor Herres, RJ Gittins, Anderson Wartel, Aurora Fickenwirth, and Sierra Springer.

These loyal scouts are in 4th grade and range in age from 9 to 10. After next year, this group will transition to Scouts BSA (formerly known as Boy Scouts of America) as they work towards the ultimate goal of the Eagle Scout rank.

Over their tenure as Cub Scouts, these children have participated in Scouting for Food, writing letters to homebound seniors, cleaning up litter on hikes, marching in the Veteran’s Day parade, carrying the banner for the Clarkston Christmas parade, helping hang the holiday lights in Locomotive Park, helping take down flags on graves at local cemeteries for Memorial Day, and actively volunteering in various capacities in their schools, churches, and the community.

These scouts are engaged in the community and enjoy serving others. When asked about their Scouting experiences, here are a couple of the replies:

From Andy: “Scouting is a lot of fun. I have made great friends and learned cool new skills. I like Scouts, and I like to help others.”

From Brennor: “Great! I’ve had a lot of fun and I’ve learned a bunch of new stuff!”

After the Pledge, these scouts recited their oath and asked City Councilors several questions about their roles and how others can get involved in local government.

Scouts, thank you for honoring us by leading the Pledge this evening and thank you for helping to make Lewiston a great place to live by working to make a difference in the lives of others.
