Driver Transported to Hospital After Colliding With Power Line in Clarkston

(Clarkston, WA) Asotin County Fire District #1 Rescue crews were dispatched to a one-vehicle wreck on Hillyard Street in Clarkston at 3:30 pm Friday afternoon.
When firefighters and medics arrived they found one male driver in a pickup that had sheared off an Avista power pole and struck another parked car. Rescue crews had the patient stay in the truck until a safe path away from power lines could be established.
Luckily crews were able to get the man out of the truck before Avista crews arrived. The lone driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by a Lewiston Ambulance. A fire command officer stated they were happy they could get the patient out of the vehicle when they did, because of the extended wait time for Avista to arrive and disconnect power.

A few homes in the area were then without power while Avista replaced the power pole. The truck stopped just short of hitting a home.
No other injuries were reported in this wreck. Asotin County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating.
