LEWISTON – Multiple agencies began reporting to a fire near the Clearwater River Casino to battle a wildfire named the “Express Incident” on the north side of US95 around 11:30 p.m. Overnight and into the morning, crews battled the fire and now, according to the Idaho Department of Transportation, the highway has been partially reopened and traffic is flowing at a reduced speed. Daily Fly recommends you avoid the area if possible and drive with caution.
Wildland fire crews are actively establishing a perimeter to contain the burn.
The Nez Perce Count Emergency Management team asks you not to enter the area north of Highway 95 in the vicinity of the Casino. Use caution and reduce speeds on HWY 95 in both directions. Smoke may reduce visibility and fire crews and law enforcement may be working along the highway.
The Nez Perce Express gas station, the Clearwater River Casino, and the RV Park were immediately closed and evacuated due to the fire risk. US95 was blocked in both directions around 1-4 miles east of Lewiston from milepost 306 – 309.
