KAMIAH – On Saturday morning at about 6:00 a.m., Kamiah Fire-Rescue, Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, and Idaho County Sheriff’s Office were notified of a boat that had lost power and was floating down the Clearwater River with five persons on board.
Clearwater County Sheriff was also requested to respond with their jet boat. A number of civilians assisted at various points in the incident.
The stranded boat’s occupants were removed from the boat and placed on the shore with Kamiah Fire-Rescue personnel.
The boat operator and the watercraft were assisted downstream to a boat ramp area.
Kamiah Fire-Rescue wants to remind everyone that due to the high-water and large debris on the rivers and creeks in the area and impending storms now approaching, to use appropriate caution and to always wear your personal floatation devices. They also wanted to thank everyone who assisted this morning.
