BONNERS FERRY – The Boundary County Sheriff’s Office is reminding drivers that as a result of dense fog in Northern Idaho, visibility between a quarter and one mile is expected until noon, in addition to the stagnant air conditions with the potential to trap pollutants near the ground with deteriorated air quality through Monday.
Drivers in the Worley, Athol, Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, Priest River, Clark Fork, Schweitzer Mountain Road, Eastport, Hayden, Bonners Ferry, and Sandpoint areas are asked to take extra precautions to ensure they can maintain visibility and be seen. Drivers should:
- Slow down
- Use your headlights
- Leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
The buildup of fine pollution particles can be harmful to those sensitive to air pollution including people with lung and heart problems, people with diabetes, children, and the elderly.
