Gritman Medical Center Launches New Electronic Health Record

Release from Grtman Medical Center

MOSCOW ― All Gritman Medical Center locations have upgraded to a new Electronic Health Record, OCHIN Epic, allowing for improved communication and quality of care between patients, providers, and clinics.

The change is an exciting upgrade for patients and a key component of Gritman’s mission to continually provide extraordinary care for the people in our communities. OCHIN Epic allows patients to access their medical records online, all in one place.

“Through this investment, we anticipate improved access to the health care information our patients and providers depend on to make health decisions,” Gritman President and CEO Kara Besst said. “This has been a huge undertaking for Gritman’s hospital and clinic system. Thank you to everyone throughout the Gritman Family for making this upgrade happen for our patients.”

Epic is the nation’s leading Electronic Health Record and has previously been adopted by several facilities throughout the region. Implementation of Epic at Gritman follows nearly two years of planning by employees and contractors across the organization to ensure patients have access to the most up-to-date resources for their medical care.

The new system includes a single patient portal, called MyChart, that is accessible via the web and mobile app. The MyChart patient portal replaces three separate patient portals previously used throughout the Gritman hospital and clinic system. The portal also features an option allowing patients to link their Gritman MyChart account with Epic accounts at other health care facilities.

MyChart Uses Include:

  • Appointment Management
  • Medical Provider Communication
  • Prescription Refill Requests
  • Immunization Tracking
  • Test Result Access
  • Patient Billing

Gritman will continue to store all medical records safely and securely in accordance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines. Patients may also continue to have the ability to request copies of historical medical records through Gritman’s Health Information Management department.

Instructions on how to access medical records, along with other Frequently Asked Questions related to the change to Epic, are available at gritman.org/Epic.
