Hamilton and Stevens Sweep CCC Basketball Weekly Awards

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Lewis-Clark State Basketball closed out the non-conference slate over the weekend with the men in Caldwell and the No. 10 women in Helena. Both came away with a 1-1 split against tough competition, and both had a Warrior earn Cascade Conference Rize Laboratory Player of the Week honor. Freshman Alton Hamilton won the first award of his career, and Callie Stevens added to her impressive collection.

ALTON HAMILTON – MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Hamilton was big off the bench for LC State in each contest over the weekend. The true freshman was dynamic in the victory over Montana Western with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Against a very tough Hope International, Hamilton tallied a team-high 10 points and grabbed five rebounds. He averaged a double-double with 13.5 points and 10.0 rebounds over the weekend while shooting 47.6%.

This is the first weekly honor of Hamilton’s career.

CALLIE STEVENS – WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Stevens led the Warriors with 26 points on Friday against No. 5 Carroll (Mont.) on a 5-for-9 performance from 3-point range. The senior added 15 points in the victory over No. 18 Providence (Mont.) on Saturday. Stevens shot 52.2% from the field and 55.6% from 3-point range. She was perfect at the free throw line (12-for-12) over the weekend with crucial foul shots to close out the contest against the Argos.

This is the first time this season Stevens has won the award and eighth time in her career.

The Warriors host Northwest and Evergreen State this weekend to kick off CCC play in the P1FCU Activity Center.
