Honoring Captain Ben Moulton’s Final Welcome Home

In reverence of the ultimate sacrifice made by 27-year-old Captain Ben Moulton, a CH-53E helicopter pilot who tragically lost his life during a training exercise on February 6, 2024, the Idaho State Police (ISP) extends an invitation for the community to pay their respects along the route during Captain Moulton’s honorable transfer to his home in Emmett, Idaho.

Date: Thursday, February 22, 2024

Processional Route: Commencing between 3:30 and 4 p.m., a processional will accompany Captain Moulton’s journey from the Boise Airport and should arrive between 4:30 and 5 p.m. at Emmett City Park, where there will be a ceremony.

– West on I-84 from S. Vista Ave (exit 53)
– North on Eagle Rd/Hwy-55 (exit 46)
– West on State St/Hwy-44
– North on Emmett Hwy/Hwy-16
– North on S. Washington Ave
– East on E. Main St/Cascade Rd, concluding at Emmett City Park

In honoring Captain Moulton’s distinguished military service and profound sacrifice for our nation, ISP asks motorists to prioritize safety and decorum along the designated route. To facilitate the smooth passage of the processional and ensure the safety of all involved, we request motorists:

Pull Over Safely: When the processional approaches, pull your vehicle safely to the side of the roadway.

Remain in Vehicle: Refrain from exiting your vehicle.

Rejoin Traffic After Passage: Carefully merge back into traffic after the processional passes.

Parking: If showing support on overpasses or along the route, do not stop or wait on the freeway, park on or along the road, or use freeway ramps. Park in a nearby lot.

Tribute Display: We encourage community members to honor Captain Moulton’s memory by displaying the American flag and wearing red, white, and blue attire. Please do so from a safe location that does not interfere with traffic.

With solemn reflection and remembrance, ISP stands in honor of Captain Ben Moulton’s enduring legacy and extends our gratitude to the community for their support and understanding during this solemn occasion.
