This past weekend, the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office conducted an emphasis patrol on the Highway 12 corridor. Six Idaho County deputies and two Idaho County drug detection K9s participated in this patrol.
Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of the 100 deadliest days of driving. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, traffic fatalities increase across the nation.
Last year, Idaho saw a 10.5% increase in traffic fatalities from 2020. More than 44 vehicles were stopped for traffic violations. Two people were arrested for felony charges, one for possession of methamphetamine and possession of LSD and the other for possession of psilocybin mushrooms.
31 other misdemeanor citations were issued for possession of marijuana, possession of edible marijuana products, possession of paraphernalia/drug scales, and open containers of alcohol by passengers.
