BOISE – Idaho students who applied for an Idaho Opportunity Scholarship will find out next week whether they will receive the scholarship.
Applicants will be notified via email at midnight on Monday, May 13, 2024. Students should also check their spam folders if the notification doesn’t appear in their inbox. Students who opted for a text notification will receive a text message on Tuesday, May 14.
“Over 10,000 students applied for the Idaho Opportunity Scholarship for the 2024-25 academic years,” said Joy Miller, the State Board of Education’s Scholarships Program Manager. “As of today, nearly 7,000 applicants have completed the FAFSA, which is a requirement for the Opportunity Scholarship.”
This year also saw a record renewal rate – 85%, leaving enough funds for about 2,340 new awards that will be made this year. Students who receive new awards will have two weeks (until May 27) to accept the scholarship. Students who do not receive a new award are encouraged to keep checking their email (including spam folders) throughout the summer and early fall, should funding be available for additional awards. They should also check their individual status page Scholarship Idaho website for updates.
The Idaho Opportunity Scholarship awards eligible applicants up to $3,500 per academic year and can be renewed for up to four years. The scholarship is need-based. Students must have at least a 2.7 cumulative GPA to be eligible.
