SPOKANE, Wash. – Since 1903, Spokane Indians Baseball has been a beloved pastime for young and old in the Inland Northwest. Always dedicated to celebrating what makes our region special, the team is a leader in building community pride.
This spring, the Spokane Indians Baseball Team announced their participation in the City of Spokane’s celebration of the 1974 Expo’s 50th Anniversary, donning special ‘Expo ’74’ uniforms at four games throughout the season.
“As the community’s baseball team, it’s important for us to demonstrate thoughtful generosity and community leadership whenever we can,” said Otto Klein, Senior Vice President of the Indians. “Through our collaboration with Innovia, we are excited to welcome more children and families to experience the historic June 9th game as we commemorate Expo ‘74 and the collective achievements of our community.”
In celebration of Innovia Foundation’s 50th Anniversary and the vibrant community spirit of Expo ‘74, the Foundation is partnering with Spokane Indians Baseball on a special offer for the June 9th game when the team takes the field in their Expo ‘74 commemorative uniforms for the final time.
Innovia 50th Anniversary tickets are priced at only $6 each, plus fees, and include admission to the game, a free ice cream sandwich and entry into a drawing for a Spokane Indians jersey. As always, fans can expect free parking, free gameday programs, and family friendly amenities throughout the ballpark, including access to the Kids Zone and wiffle ball at Molina Field located on the 3rd base side of the outer concourse.
Gates to Avista Stadium open at 12noon with the first pitch at 1 p.m. Ticket holders are invited to stop by the Innovia booth in the Hall of Fame Plaza to pick up a voucher for a free ice cream sandwich. Visit innovia.org/June9IndiansBaseball to purchase tickets or check ticket availability at the gate on game day. Limited tickets at the special $6 package rate are available for the June 9th game.
“Spokane Indians Baseball is iconic in our region, boasting a decades-long history of investment in causes important to our communities, including Veteran welfare and the health and protection of local rivers,” says Shelly O’Quinn, CEO, Innovia Foundation. “We are proud to partner with Spokane Indians Baseball to bring our community together for a game that celebrates our shared history and community spirit.”
This is not the first time the team and Innovia have partnered on community-based programs. In 2017, they jointly introduced the historic Redband Rally campaign which raises funds for native Redband Rainbow Trout habitat in the Spokane River. Through this initiative, thousands of dollars have been raised to support Redband habitat and programs that support clean water in the Spokane River.
In 2021 they partnered again on the Operation Fly Together campaign which celebrates the historic KC-135 tanker found at Fairchild AFB, builds pride for the base’s critical functions and helps better the lives of Veterans from all services that have settled in the Spokane region.
This investment is part of a series of events and activities Innovia is gifting to communities across Eastern Washington and North Idaho in celebration of the Foundation’s 50th Anniversary in 2024. More information about these events can be found at innovia.org/fifty.
Celebrating Community in 2024
Together with media partner NonStop Local KHQ, Innovia is Celebrating Community, a year-long, region-wide celebration of the volunteers, citizens and organizations that have faithfully served the needs of communities for 50 years in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. Each month, Innovia will gift the region with free, inclusive, family-friendly activities and experiences to commemorate the Foundation’s past, present and future of bringing people together to transform lives and communities. Event details will be released at the beginning of each month throughout 2024.
50th Anniversary Calendar of Events
In addition to Innovia-sponsored community events, the Foundation has launched an online calendar where individuals and organizations can submit information about celebrations and activities in their community. The calendar is open to any events within the Foundation’s region that are free or low-cost, family-friendly and have a broad community appeal. Calendar entries can be submitted at innovia.org/fifty.
Photo Drawing
Community members who attend Innovia-sponsored community events this year are invited to submit their photos from the event for a chance to win a photo drawing. Winners will be selected in March, June, September and December to receive a $250 grant to a nonprofit of their choice. Entries can be submitted by posting photos on Instagram with the hashtag #innoviacelebratescommunity or by submitting through an online form.
