Kendrick Tigers Win State Championship in Barn Burner

KENDRICK TIGERS 59 – RICHFIELD TIGERS 57

NAMPA – In a great game, where both teams traded buckets, turnovers, and some, oh no, missed free throws, the Kendrick Tigers prevailed to win a 1A DII classification for Idaho High School Boys Basketball State Championship. The coveted trophy and coinciding banner was presented to the Kendrick Tigers in the Ford Center in tournament host town Nampa, Idaho.

Nathan Tweit led the Tigers with 20 points shooting a very respectful 50% from the floor. In support of Kendricks Championship run Jagger Hewett notched in 12 points with Hunter Taylor following right behind Hewett with 11 beans. Turnovers seemed to plague both teams throughout the contest, but actually canceled each other out as both teams gave up the rock the same amount of times for a wash in anyone getting an advantage.

1A DII State Champion Kendrick Tigers

To win a State Championship in anything is an amazing task involving massive amounts of hard work and tremendous focus. The Kendrick Tigers proved they had both as they won an exciting contest with all the thrills and spills you could ever hope for in a Championship game.

Kendrick is blessed to have a group of great athletes and great kids who are tough competitors.

Now we get to call them State Champions. The coveted Championship Banner will soon be hung on the wall at Kendrick Highschool right next to their 2022 State Football Championship.
