Kooskia Boys Earn Recognition for helping with the arrest of a fleeing subject who had previously stolen a pickup

Kooskia, ID- Released by Doug Ulmer’s Sheriff’s Office
“Today, August 8, 2023, we had the privilege of honoring four young men for their service to Idaho County on July 20, 2023.
The Idaho County Commissioners and I presented Tristan Hill, Corbin Wilson, Jakoby Fignani, and Constantine Esper each with a certificate of appreciation and Idaho County Sheriff challenge coin.
The boys saw a man run from a deputy who was performing a traffic stop in Kooskia. The man had stolen a vehicle in Grangeville early in the evening. Being good citizens, they chased after the man, eventually exhausting him, and running him towards another Idaho County Deputy who was searching for the man near the Kooskia City Park. The man admitted he was who they were looking for and was subsequently arrested.
During the chase, one of the boys was carrying cupcakes, which he continued carrying even while running after the man.
We encourage everyone to be good witnesses and try and remain safe and call the Sheriff’s Office to report what they see, but these boys went above and beyond.
The owner of the stolen pickup, Juli Stevens, also attended the ceremony and expressed her gratitude to the boys. The pickup was older, but had great sentimental value to her, as it had belonged to her father. She thanked each one, and also made them cupcakes”.
