4/4/2024 | Randy Isbelle | Sports Information Intern
CLEVELAND – Lewis-Clark State College ranks 25th with 359.25 points in the LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup after the final winter standings were released on Thursday.
The Warriors improved five positions from the fall standings and are third in the Cascade Conference behind only College of Idaho and Southern Oregon. The Yotes are currently in sixth place with 536.25 points with the Raiders in 17th place with 422.5 points.
“Proud of our student athletes and coaches,” LC State Athletic Director Brooke Henze said. “We only have eight of the 18 sports so to be in the top 25 is an accomplishment.”
LC State earned 236.25 points in the winter, 23rd most in that season, while only competing in five of the 12 possible sports. Men’s basketball scored the most points, reaching the NAIA Round of 16 for 64 points. Women’s track and field finished 14th at indoor nationals for 61.5 points and men’s track and field also finished in 14th for 60.75 points.
Warrior Women’s Basketball made it to the second round of the NAIA National Championship tournament for 50 points.
During the fall season, the Warriors competed in three of the six sporting events and totaled 123 points, good for 30th place. Women’s cross country finished in 11th at nationals for 66 points. Men’s cross country concluded their season with a 17th-place finish at nationals for 17 points.
In the final standings, 13 sports are counted in the final NAIA standings, four of which must be men’s basketball, men’s soccer, women’s basketball and women’s volleyball. The next highest (nine max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.
