LC State Golf Opens Spring Season in Henderson

3/5/2024 | Randy Isbelle | Sports Information Intern
HENDERSON, Nev. – The Lewis-Clark State Men’s and Women’s Golf teams opened up their spring schedules at the RMC Intercollegiate tournament with rounds one and two on Tuesday at the Reflection Bay Golf Club.

Play concludes on Wednesday with one final round.

THE MEN

The Warriors were nine shots better in the second 18 holes over the opening round as all five golfers improved in the latter round. Bryden Brown and Alex Navarro top the LC leaderboard, both shooting 151 over the two rounds and are currently tied for 17th place.

“Lots of young players on both teams so any tournament round is good experience,” Head Coach Zach Anderson said. “We’ll see if we can find a groove tomorrow and finish off with a positive.”

Brown opened the day with a 7-over, 79 in his opening round before shooting par in round two. Navarro had the best Warrior opening round going 4-over and improved by one shot in the second.

THE WOMEN

LC State improved as a team in round two by eight strokes over round one, but struggled to find their footing and currently sit in seventh place after the first two rounds.

Deana Caruso finished the day with a strong 2-over, 74 to push her up the leaderboard into a tie for 12th.

Today was a tough day all around,” Anderson said. “Some bright spots were Bryden and Deana’s second round.”
