LC State Names Katie (Hinrichs) Palmer Assistant Athletic Director

LEWISTON, Idaho – A familiar face will join Lewis-Clark State College Athletics this fall in former volleyball standout Katie (Hinrichs) Palmer. The Pullman, Wash., native has been named the Assistant Athletic Director, announced by Athletic Director Brooke Henze on Tuesday.

“Hiring Katie makes the entire department better,” Henze said. “With her experience at other institutions as a coach, as well as an LC alum, she has so much to offer the Warriors and our community. She is an exceptional people-person who is detailed and comes with a ton of energy. We are fortunate to add her to our team and we are so happy to bring Katie, her husband, Jordan, and their son back to the LC Valley.”

At LC State, Hinrichs-Palmer will oversee the department’s marketing and promotion efforts as well as working with sponsors. Her responsibilities will include oversight of athletic operations, event management and collaborating with the Warrior Athletic Association to enhance the student-athlete experience at LC State. She will also serve as the assistant tournament director for the Avista NAIA World Series.

“I am honored and incredibly grateful to serve Lewis-Clark State College as Assistant Athletic Director,” Hinrichs-Palmer said. “I loved my experience as a Warrior. I received an outstanding education, experienced success on the court, but most importantly built relationships across campus and in the community that were incredibly meaningful. I look forward to reconnecting and building new relationships in my new role.”

Hinrichs-Palmer played volleyball for the Warriors from 2007-2010 and sits second in the record books in career digs (1,585). She helped LC to four straight regular-season and tournament Frontier Conference titles and was a three-year team captain. After her time at LC State, Hinrichs-Palmer was hired as the Director of Volleyball Operation at Washington where she was responsible for all team travel and meals, overseeing video and statistical analysis, managing scout team, academic, professional development, community service and summer camps.

Hinrichs-Palmer served as an assistant coach at Montana State in Bozeman for two years, including a season as the Associate Head Coach. She was integral in the success the program experienced in 2017 and 2018, including the Bobcats first back-to-back double-digit win seasons in more than 10 years.

Most recently, Hinrichs-Palmer served as an assistant coach at Gonzaga for three seasons. She was hired by the Zags in 2019 and also acted as the team’s recruiting coordinator. Hinrichs-Palmer assisted with the team’s marketing strategy and implementation of game-day promotions.

“I would like to thank Brooke Henze for her commitment to the Warriors,” Hinrichs-Palmer said. “Throughout this entire process the administration, coaches and WAA members have shown that the Warriors are a family; a family that I am so blessed to be a part of as a former student-athlete and now a member of the administration. I would also like to say thank you to my husband for his support and encouragement. I am excited to be coming home. Go Warriors!”
