LC State Opens Fall Semester With Enrollment on the Rise

August 20, 2024

(LEWISTON, ID) – Thanks, in large part, to a jump in healthcare education and career-technical education students, Lewis-Clark State College’s overall headcount is up 2.5% and its full time equivalent (FTE) enrollment has grown 2.2%, according to unofficial first-day totals published on Monday. Official fall numbers will be available on census day, Oct. 15.

The increase comes after seeing a 2.1% increase in headcount last spring and marks the third straight fall that LC State’s enrollment has grown.

“LC State’s enrollment has stabilized since the pandemic and is even growing, which is unique among small rural colleges like ours,” LC State President Cynthia Pemberton said. “This is good news not just for the college, but for Idaho and the region. More students coming and thriving at LC State means that our communities will have more exceptional healthcare workers, teachers, business people, welders, accountants, scientists, cyber security experts, and the list goes on and on. When our students thrive, we all thrive.”

LC State’s Technical & Industrial Division’s headcount is up 15.6% compared to last fall, while Nursing & Health Sciences, thanks to a 9.3% increase, is currently projected to have a record 672 students in its programs. The Business & Computer Science Division is also up 5.4%.

Lewis-Clark State held its orientation for new students on Friday and its first day of classes on Monday.
