LEWISTON, Idaho — Three Lewis-Clark State College engineering technology students worked together to win the Esri StoryMap Competition hosted by the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) this summer.
The StoryMap Competition was just one of three components the team competed in through NSPS. Other components included a T-Shirt competition and the NSPS Student Competition. The students’ StoryMap was based on their journey competing in the NSPS Student Competition held in Washington D.C. While in the capital the team completed field exercises on the National Mall, including a triangulating practicum off the Washington Monument.
A large portion of the StoryMap was a monument scavenger hunt around the city showcased through an interactive map. Other moments captured included the team finding out they’d be traveling to Washington D.C., its practice leading to the competition, field exercises, and life post-competition.
LC State’s student group was composed of Emily Bann, Griffen Parsells, and Beatriz Lambru. They were joined by LC State engineering technology professor Julee Moore, and retired faculty member Jenni Light. The team was awarded $500 from Esri for its winning StoryMap.
