LC State Women’s Tennis Splits Pair of Division III Matches

WALLA WALLA – Lewis-Clark State Women’s Tennis split a pair of matches against two NCAA Division III opponents on Saturday.
The Warriors earned an 8-1 win against George Fox after taking a 7-2 loss to Whitman earlier in the day.
The two results moved the LC record to 6-18 on the season.
MATCH ONE: Whitman def. LC State 7-2
Gwyn Heim earned the lone singles victory for LC State with a No. 4 singles win over Erica Mock. Heim battled back after she dropped the first set to win 1-6, 6-1, 6-0.
Rayana Shah pushed the No. 2 singles contest to three sets with a second-set tiebreaker win. Shah lost in the third set to Ilina Jha. Paige Noble-Lucas won the first set in her No. 5 singles match with Julia Longpre before taking the loss in a third-set modified-tiebreaker.
Noble Lucas teamed with Bonolo Molefe in No. 3 doubles to take the only doubles win for the Warriors in the contest 8-3 against Julia Longpre and Elisabeth Carter.

MATCH TWO: LC State def. George Fox 8-1
Beatriz Lambru took care of business in No. 1 singles against Kalli Wiker 6-0, 6-3. Heidi Moyo (No. 3) and Marina Perez (No. 4) earned wins by identical 6-4, 6-4 results.
Shah swept the opening set of her No. 2 singles contest with Elizabeth Cook, but was pushed to a third-set modified-tiebreaker. The freshman came away with a 6-0, 5-7, 12-10 win.
Heim dropped only two games in a No. 5 singles win against Cassey Hitch 6-1, 6-1. Noble-Lucas took the No. 6 singles match 7-5, 6-2.
LC State earned the doubles point taking two of three contests. Rayanah Shah and Maria Silva were victorious in No. 2 doubles against Kylie Hull and Shanah Denham 8-5. Heidi Moyo and Beatriz Lambru won in No. 3 doubles 8-3.

The LC State Women’s Tennis team travels to Spokane, Wash. to face another NCAA Division III opponent. The Warriors will face Whitworth at 11 a.m. on April 13.
