(Lewiston, ID) On Friday, September 13, the annual Battle of the Bridges football game between Lewiston and Clarkston was placed under lock down due to an individual threatening the safety of attendees. Very little viable information has been provided regarding the nature of the situation, however numerous parents have taken to Facebook and other social media outlets to share their thoughts.
The Lewiston, Clarkston and Asotin School Districts sent out a joint statement on Sunday, September 15, two days after the incident. While the statement provides little to no information regarding the nature of the threat, they were sure to ask members of the community to cease posting their unverified information on social media.
“While we understand the concern that posts like this can create, we urge everyone to refrain from sharing unverified information. Official updates regarding school safety will always come directly from the school districts or local authorities. Please continue to monitor official channels for accurate information.”
In their statement, the districts stated that they will provide more updates to the community when the information is available. Local law enforcement is looking into the situation, and all three districts will proceed with their normal school days today, Monday, September 16.
