Highway 128- Released by the Asotin County Fire District #1 on June 6

Lewiston Fire Department and Asotin County Fire District #1 attacked a grass and brush fire just after 4pm Monday afternoon near the Idaho/Washington border along Highway 128.

Crews were called to the fire near an Avista Sub Station just west of the Nez Perce County Jail.

The approximately 2 acre fire was burning in tall grass and sage brush. Firefighters brought the blaze under control within about 20 minutes and continued to work on hot spots for about an hour.

The fire may have been caused by an Avista power line. There were no reported injuries.
