Lewiston, August 29, 2023 – The members of Lewiston Firefighters Local 1773 have once again demonstrated their unwavering commitment to the community’s welfare by raising an impressive sum of $15,347.10 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) through their annual Fill the Boot fundraiser. The Fill the Boot campaign, a long-standing tradition among firefighters nationwide, showcases the dedication of our firefighters to support individuals and families affected by neuromuscular diseases. This year’s event, held at the intersection of 19th Avenue and 21st Street, saw the local community rallying together to contribute to a cause that is close to their hearts. Funds collected during the fundraiser will aid the MDA in its mission to provide vital resources, research, and assistance to individuals living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases. Every dollar raised brings the MDA closer to developing breakthrough therapies, providing support to affected families, and ultimately, working towards a world free from the challenges of these debilitating conditions. Lewiston Firefighters Local 1773 would like to express their sincere gratitude to the community members, businesses, and individuals who generously contributed to the success of this year’s Fill the Boot fundraiser. Their compassion and support truly make a difference in the lives of those facing neuromuscular diseases. “Our community’s response to this year’s Fill the Boot fundraiser has been overwhelming, and we are incredibly proud of the collective effort that made this achievement possible,” said Drew Dickinson, Fill the Boot Committee chair for Lewiston Firefighters Local 1773. “The Muscular Dystrophy Association’s work is vital, and we are honored to play a part in supporting their mission.” The success of the Fill the Boot campaign is a testament to the strong bonds between the Lewiston Firefighters and the communities they serve. Together, they have once again demonstrated the power of unity and compassion in creating a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
