Lewiston Police and Fire Departments Issue Warning about Aerial Fireworks

LEWISTON – Lewiston Police and Fire departments want to remind the community that aerial fireworks are not permitted within Lewiston city limits on Independence Day or any time of year, per City Code Sec. 24-8(b). Nonaerial common fireworks may be discharged between June 28th and July 5th. 
Injuries from fireworks happen every year and they are preventable if you use them the way they are meant to be used and you practice common sense. Check out the flyer below for 2021 injury statistics and important safety tips. 

To report the use of illegal fireworks, please call the Lewiston Police Department’s non-emergency number at (208) 746-0171. Anyone cited for a fireworks violation may be faced with a fine not exceeding $1,000 and/or up to six months in jail. 
City facilities will be closed on Monday, July 4. Fire, police, and other critical services will remain fully operational.
