Lewiston Police Department Press Release

October 13, 2024

On October 12th, 2024 Lewiston Police Officers responded to the intersection of Bryden Avenue and 7th Street. Upon arrival one of the involved vehicles, a Blue 2018 Rav4, had impacted the home at 702 Bryden Ave.

The other involved vehicle, a Blue 2021 Subaru, was disabled in the middle of Bryden Avenue. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage, however both drivers and passengers walked away with minor injuries.

It was determined the driver of the Rav4, 82 year old Mary Gregory of Lewiston, had failed to yield to the red traffic signal while eastbound on Bryden Ave. When Mary went through the intersection she crashed into 66 year old Christine Connerley, the driver of the Subaru.

The impact caused Mary’s vehicle to leave the road and impact an Avista utility box. This caused loss of power to the traffic lights. Mary’s vehicle ultimately came to rest against the house, 702 Bryden Ave. The home sustained minor exterior damage.

7th Street, from Airway Avenue to Linden Avenue, and eastbound Bryden Avenue, at 6th Street C, were shut down for approximately one hour. City of Lewiston Streets employees responded as well as Avista Utilities workers. Workers were able to temporarily supply power to the traffic lights until the utility box could be repaired.
