Last week, Defendant Kay M Morrison (82 yoa, Lewiston) [pictured left] was found not competent to stand trial for murder. Defense Attorneys for Mrs. Morrison filed a motion to have her evaluated for competency on December 2, 2022. On Friday, Magistrate Judge Karin Seubert reviewed the findings of the evaluation done by a doctor and found Mrs. Morrison to not be competent. The Department of Health and Welfare will determine the appropriate placement for her to be restored and able to assist in her defense to stand trial. The pending criminal charges will be paused until the defendant is deemed competent by the court to stand trial for her allegations.
