Each spring nominations for are gathered from parents, students, and district staff members.  A committee of past teachers of the year considers each nomination and as a committee, select the recipient of the award.

Here are a few words about Maria from students, parents and fellow teachers:

• Able to talk to me in kid words so I understand the meaning and the learning needing to happen–makes learning easy
