Moscow Farmers Market seeks top ten status

August 8, 2023 (Moscow, Idaho) —  Voting in the America’s Farmers Market Celebration continues until Mon., Sep. 18.

The Moscow Farmers Market has received nearly 800 votes since voting opened on Mon. Jun. 19. At the time of writing, it is placing as the 15th favorite farmers market in the U.S. amongst 7,000 eligible markets, according to the America’s Farmers Market Celebration website. To vote for the Market, visit https://markets.farmland.org/market/moscow-farmers-market/.

The Market is placing 1st in the Pacific Region and 1st in the state of Idaho over Twentynine Palms Certified Farmers Market in California and Nampa Farmers Market in Idaho, respectively.

To place as one of the top ten favorite farmers markets in the nation, the Market will need to secure at least another 300 plus votes, and keep up the voting effort with their BroccTheVote hashtag.

“There is no representation of Farmers Markets from the Pacific Region in the top ten, or top five, and we hope to garner enough support to be that representative,” said Community Events Manager, Amanda Argona. Argona is in her sixth season managing this treasured community event. The Market will be eligible for a cash prize if it receives enough votes to place it into the top five; markets listed as first in each state will receive $100.

This is the Moscow Farmers Market’s 11th year participating in the celebration. Thanks to endorsements in the form of votes and reviews at https://markets.farmland.org/market/moscow-farmers-market/, the Market has consistently placed as one of the top 25 farmers markets in the nation. It’s best ranking year was 2021 when it reached 8th Nationwide, 2nd Pacific, and 1st Idaho.

Now in its 15th year, the America’s Farmers Market Celebration is hosted by the American Farmland Trust and Farmers Market Coalition and is the only annual public ranking of the top farmers market in the U.S. The intention of the celebration is to lift up the vital role farmers markets play across the country. For more information on the celebration’s eligibility guidelines, rules, and prizes, visit https://markets.farmland.org/rules/.

“This is a friendly competition for us. We feel a sense of comradery with other markets during this time, and get an opportunity to learn about other markets we had no idea existed. It’s a win-win for everyone who participates,” Argona stated.
