MOSCOW, ID— Latah County will break ground on an expansion of its RV park at the Fairgrounds later this summer. In July of 2021, Latah County was awarded $84,432 in grant funding from the Idaho Department of Parks & Recreation’s Recreational Vehicle Fund program for its RV park expansion project.
“We’re so pleased to be able to build new ways to better serve the growing number of Palouse-area recreators and visitors,” said Kathie LaFortune, Latah County Commissioner.
This summer, the Latah County Fairgrounds will be ready to execute the grant-funded expansion project. The award will fund the installation of 6-8 additional RV spots along the south border of the main Fairgrounds lawn, along the tree-lined edge of the access road off Mountain View Road that runs east to west through the grounds.
The new spots will be electric-only for now, however, additional improvements and upgrades in the next few years are also planned.
“These last couple of years we’ve seen an incredible increase in demand for recreational vehicle accommodations at the Fairgrounds,” said Jim Logan, Director of Latah County Fair & Events Center. “I’m glad not only to be able to keep up with demand and provide the services necessary but also to save the taxpayers money with grant funding to do it.”
These improvements are planned to be complete by the end of the grant project’s period of performance, which is June 30, 2023.
