This week, the road crew working in the Lochsa and North Fork District area started clearing Forest Road 555 toward Weitas Guard Station with the backhoe, and finished to the station on Tuesday. The road is completely open (as of Tuesday, July 12th) and the slide is cleared. The crew also spent a day moving and clearing Forest Road 481A into Walde Lookout. While there, the crew also relocated the outhouse.
On the south end of the Forest, road crews finished maintaining the Nut Basin area, and plan to move equipment to the Selway next week to begin grading. Please be on the lookout for heavy equipment, and drive extra carefully if you are in the Selway area next week. Please note that delays may be expected while the equipment operator grades the Selway River Road 223.
Big thanks to our road crews and equipment operators working hard to open and maintain the many miles of roads on the Forest!
