The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests’ Palouse Ranger District will be completing prescribed burning operations today, April 25, 2022, at a unit on the Greenhorn Stewardship Timber Sale approximately eight miles northeast of Harvard off of Forest Service Road #4774-C.
Fire managers intend to burn 50-75 acres of harvest-generated slash in the area to reduce wildfire fuels and prepare the site for future re-planting. Burn operations are expected to begin around 12 p.m. (PDT) today and may continue as late as 7 p.m., conditions depend.
Those visiting the Palouse Ranger District in the area of the Strychnine Trailhead should expect to see smoke and may encounter firefighting personnel in the area.
There are no closures in place due to this burn at this time but abide by any directions given by fire managers on-site regarding areas to avoid.
