Nez Perce County Obtains Property From the City of Lewiston and Local Business for New Courthouse

LEWISTON – Nez Perce County Commissioners signed an agreement last Wednesday with the City of Lewiston and Castellaw Kom Architects to acquire the property needed for the future courthouse project.

The agreement transfers property from the City of Lewiston to Nez Perce County for a future Driver’s and Motor Vehicle Licensing Building and parking lot directly in front of Lewiston City Hall. In exchange, the City of Lewiston will be provided with parking spaces for their staff. Nez Perce County purchased property from the neighboring business, Castellaw Kom Architects, for $48,000.00.

“Nez Perce County has secured the property in front of City Hall for a future Driver’s and Motor Vehicle Licensing Building,” said Chairman Doug Zenner. “This is
one of the first steps to keeping the Courthouse Project moving forward in the downtown area and clear the way for the hiring of a Construction Manager.”

The Nez Perce County Courthouse Project’s next step is securing a Construction Manager and finalizing the design. A Construction Manager is expected to be selected in the next week and the design work is expected to be completed by November 18, 2022.
