Nez Perce Historical Park Announced Summer Activities Schedule

LAPWAI – Nez Perce National Historical Park announced its summer schedule. The museum, movie, and Jr. Ranger program are free and offer a unique experience for families and visitors of all ages. 

Seasonal Attractions

  • Guided Collection Tours – Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m. 
  • Indian Agency Cabin, located in the Spalding Picnic Area, will be open for self-guided viewing on Saturdays, Sundays, and Tuesdays, 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Daily tipi pitching will begin on June 16 at 8:30 a.m., and daily ranger programs will be offered at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. beginning on June 28.

The guided collection tours will be led by Curator Kristine Leier. Kristine will guide participants in an exploration of drawers and shelves filled with beautiful and priceless pieces. Tours will be limited to 8 people, beginning on Tuesday, June 28, and ending on September 5, 2022.

The Indian Agency Cabin is the oldest building belonging to Nez Perce National Historical Park and dates back to the Civil War Era. Several interpretive panels have been placed inside the cabin providing information about the Indian Agents as well as the transformation of the building into the Sacajawea Museum and its present condition. The cabin will be open Saturdays, Sundays, and Tuesdays beginning on June 28 until September 5, 2022.

Nez Perce National Historical Park’s Spalding Visitor Center is located 12 miles east of Lewiston at 39063 U.S. Highway 95.  Hours of operation are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily, with the historic picnic area remaining open from dawn to dusk.
